Summary
The focus of the article's attention is the global transition from agrarian to industrial society in the Tambov region in the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. In the 19th century there were gradually revealed the natural limits of development of the traditional society economy, demography and ecology, and at the beginning of the 20th century its economic and demographic crisis was obvious. The author analyses the increase in crisis indications and, to a lesser degree, mechanisms that would allow overcoming the crisis, that are related to the Soviet period.
